Beauty All Around

Today has been the coldest day I've had since being back in Texas. The lowest I saw the temperature drop was 26 degrees! Of course, everyone is freaking out, including me. It's fun to have chaos every now and then.

On our way to Wal Mart this afternoon, my sister and I noticed that the light rain drops looked thicker and were sticking more to the car. They were little baby snowflakes, and as soon as I saw them stick to the car, that warm feeling overcame my heart. I love seeing snow fall. It's definitely one of the things that make my heart smile. It sounds super cheesy, I know, but I don't know how else to explain that feeling. Like I feel genuine joy, contentment, and awe when I see the perfectly white snow falling so gracefully on the ground. Maybe it's because I didn't grow up seeing snow every winter-I saw snow for the first time when I was 14 years old. Maybe that's why I have a greater appreciation for this beautiful phenomenon.

Anyway, I just love seeing beauty in simple things. I remember a time when I saw beauty in everyone. There was a particular time my sophomore year of high school when a friend made a comment about a girl that wasn't very popular or outgoing. She was plain, quiet, and not someone my friend would find herself hanging out with. She said she was ugly. I remember thinking about what my friend had just said, and as I thought about this poor girl, I couldn't figure out why my friend would say that. There was something about this girl that I found interesting. I couldn't point my finger at it right away, I just knew that I didn't think she was ugly at all. Days later I randomly remembered that the girl had the prettiest smile. She wasn't ugly.

I'm not that girl anymore and it makes me sad.

I want to see beauty in everyone again. I want to give people a chance before I make an assumption of them. Everyone has a story, everyone has a past.

I want to see the beauty in this world. Though it is cold and dark, there is light because we have been saved and redeemed by the blood of our savior, Jesus Christ.

I want to want to share that with everyone. Share the beauty.
